Hi guys. I know it’s been a minute. I really did not intend to be away for this long but my schedule has been super tight and sometimes I struggle to come up with interesting ideas to write about. Nevertheless, today I decided to pick up my pen so here’s what I have been up to :

I got married on the 21st of December 2023. It was a three activity in one day event. The first activity of the day was the “WALIMAH” which typically means Qur’an graduation. In this event, the celebrant’s Qur’an teacher recites a surah from the Qur’an and after the teacher is done, the celebrant also recites the same surah. The goal is to recite without any mistake as that would mean that the celebrant has mastered Qur’an recitation after years of studying.

The next activity was the “NIKKAH”. NIKKAH is an Islamic name for marriage contract where the groom gives his bride a certain amount of money called “SADAQI”. If the bride confirms that she is satisfied with the amount given to her, the imam then announces to the witnesses and a prayer is said.

After the Nikkah, we had a reception party where we entertained all our guests and everyone had a swell time.

Moving on, I celebrated my first Eid el Fitr and Eid el Kabeer as a married woman. Growing up I always celebrated Eid with my family until I got a job in another city and had to celebrate several Eid alone. I had no idea what celebrating Eid would be like as a married woman because I knew I had to be in charge of organizing the activities that would happen on that day. I had a memorable Eid celebration regardless, from having an intimate celebration at home to hanging out and also visiting family friends. Every Eid was a hit 😉.

I also celebrated my second year work anniversary. I officially resumed work on the 23rd of May 2022 and it clocked two years on the 23rd of May 2024. I had a small celebration at the office with my colleagues. I read it somewhere that you should always celebrate your wins no matter how small or big and since then, I decided to always do just that.

In between adjusting to my new life as a married woman and doubling as a banker, I have been trying to find a path in content creation. I have a small following that is slowly growing on TikTok. I have posted various content from vacation to cooking and lifestyle. I hope I hit the jackpot soon.
